Welcome (yes, we’re back)

You are very welcome, I am so glad we’re here together.

A deciduous tree in the dark, lit up with yellowy lights.

It’s been a long hiatus and a change of direction but, that’s the way things roll. I had considered archiving or deleting the previous blog posts but, the more I thought about (and checked in with others), the more I realised that it gives you a context about my background and education, as well as the work I do.

Brief recap: I’m a hospital social worker who also has an applied theology doctorate. My research is basically about how people build, create, and engage with personal spirituality, especially when it’s incidental/ not intentional. I am very drawn to the material culture that results. So knowing that, the tag line makes sense hey?

And, that’s the work we’re going to do here. It’s going to be a celebration of making and creating, as well as the people doing those things. I love theory and academics but I know it’s not for everyone so I will try to keep that to a minimum. If you want more theory, please do let me know, I could maybe have a section with articles that would be useful? I’m not sure. I’m really exploring things right now, and not really attached to any one way of being.

I do plan to do reviews of books, classes, tutorials etc. I think they’ll largely be positive reviews only but not sure about that. I’m still exploring and thinking about how I will use this space.

I am also going to do a print newsletter/zine (I have a proofing press on the way right now!). I’ll let you know how to subscribe to that.

Keep dreaming and making everyone.
